Greenwich PD: Looking for Leads

Police say it's too early to say whether Thursday's robbery of a Cos Cob bank is linked to heists in Stamford.

Greenwich investigators are working to determine whether the Thursday afternoon robbery of the Citibank in Cos Cob is the work of robbers who held up two banks in Stamford including one earlier this week.

"We're looking at our incident and others  to identify any commonalities. It's too early to make any connections to the Citizens Bank" robbery, said Lt. Robert Berry. He said the department is working with other agencies including Stamford Police but declined to identify those other agencies. "The FBI would be 1 agency we would consult but I am not confirming or denying" if the FBI is assisting in the investigation," Berry added.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m. March 22, a lone robber demanded cash from a teller at Citibank, 453 E. Putnam Ave. Berry said the robber made a "verbal demand" and that he could not comment on whether a written demand also was given to the teller. The robber, who did not display a weapon, escaped with an "undisclosed amount" of cash, Berry said. The thief apparently left in a vehicle.

"We have some leads on the vehicle but we're not releasing a description or a license plate," Berry also said. "We are following up, analyzing video surveillance (from the bank) and other surveillance in the area—closed circuit television from in or near the area," he added.

The only description Greenwich Police have released on the suspect is "he is a black male," according to Berry. Investigators haven't found any indication that a dye pack, commonly used by banks, had exploded.

In the March 19 at 1 Atlantic St. in Stamford, the robber passed a note to a teller demanding money. A dye pack stuffed in the money exploded in the suspect's car, prompting him to drop the money outside the car.

On Friday morning Stamford Police reportedly identified the March 19 bandit from a fingerprint on the demand note, according to a published report.

Stamford Police are looking for 46-year-old Kevin Bolden and his girlfriend 35-year-old Moneek Grant for their possible connection to Monday's robbery, according to a statement released Lt. Diedrich Hohn. Both suspects are residents of New Haven. Stamford cops say that Bolden also is a suspect in a robbery in Woodbridge.

The March 22 robbery is the third unsolved bank heist for Greenwich Police. They continue to investigate 2 bank robberies believed to have been committed by the same bandit. escaped with an unspecified amount of cash after handing a written note to a teller of People's United Bank, 410 Greenwich Ave. Then at 1155 E. Putnam Ave. in Riverside, and passed a note demanding money from a teller. He escaped with a bag in which the dye pack exploded.

Berry said Greenwich Police are "looking at every option in the recent or passed robberies" on whether the incidents are connected but "it is too early in the investigation to say."
