Housing Authority Purchases Cos Cob Homes

The Greenwich Housing Authority has finalized the purchase of 2 homes to grow its housing stock in town.

 

The Greenwich Housing Authority has finalized the purchase of two homes to grow its housing stock in the Cos Cob section town.

According to Greenwich Tax Assessor records, the property at 85 and 87-89 Strickland Rd. were purchased by the authority on March 1.

The property at 87-89 Strickland Rd. was sold by  Doris and Theodore Allegrini Sr. to Town Hall Annex Corp. for $550,000, according to land records. The Allegrinits also sold 85 Strickland Rd. to the authority for $700,000.

The Greenwich Housing Authority previously received unanimous approval to proceed with its plans to establish five affordable housing units on the properties.

The Planning and Zoning Commission granted a municipal improvement status—a designation needed for the plan to allow the purchase of properties. The unanimous vote came at the commission's Jan. 8 meeting.
