Jeff Weber Resigns from WGCH Radio Parent Company

Weber has been with company nearly 10 years.

Jeff Weber, the executive vice president of Blue Star Media, the parent company of Greenwich's only radio station is stepping down.

Weber, who has held the postion for nearly a decade, said, "I haven’t taken a new position … I am exploring some other opportunities. A couple things that have been presented to me and I expect others to consider before the end of the year."

Weber announced his departure yesterday - just hours after he was elected to his second one-year term as chairman of the .

 "There has been very significant growth and it is time to move on and certain aspects of my contract that allow me to resign before expiration of my contract … and offers me in some financial protections," Weber said. He declined to elaborate on his contract or what those financial protections were.

In addition to the 1,000-watt , Blue Star Media owns the Business TalkRadio Network and the Lifestyle TalkRadio Network as well as radio stations in Las Vegas, Pittsburgh and Boston. Adding the Lifestyle Network and holdings in Boston and Las Vegas are some of the achievements Weber looks to during his tenure.

The 58-year-old Weber added, "On the local level, enhancing local programming on WGCH and making it more available to the public, also are achievements that I’m proud of."

Weber, who lives in Riverside with his family, said he plans to remain in Greenwich and involved with the Chamber of Commerce. He also owns a small marketing company in town.

He said he doesn't expect to have much time to relax after his Dec. 30 departure. "Somehow I don’t think I’ll have a whole lot of free time … between the chamber, the Greenwich Rotary Club and my family. I could very well be be employed by someone else by first of the year."
