For decades there have been license plates required for motor vehicles.

Instead of the mundane combos of letters and numbers, some vehicle owners prefer to imprint their whims, personal statements and interests, or lineage on their license tags.

'Plates on Patch: Greenwich Style' captures unusual plates seen around town and will feature some each week. And if you have an unusual plate or happen to seen one that is the proverbial 'Kodak moment,' please feel free to upload them by clicking on the upload photo button above.

About this column: License plates or tags have been de rigeur for motor vehicles for decades. Plates on Patch captures some of the unusual plates seen in Greenwich. Related Topics: License Plates, Plates on Patch, Tags in Greenwich, and vanity plates
