A collaborative production of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale

The Upper School’s winter theatrical production of William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, recently played to enthusiastic audiences in Greenwich Academy’s Massey Theater. Students from GA and Brunswick School offered a string of terrific performances, lending both grace and levity to one of Shakespeare’s most challenging plays.

Director Dawn Fuller-Medhurst opted for a more modern setting for the play, plucking it from its Elizabethan context and setting it down on New Year’s Eve 1909. A story of love and forgiveness, The Winter’s Tale sits appropriately in the winter’s moment of annual transition, when thoughts naturally move from what was to what’s to come.  Beautiful set and costume designs by Eric Everett and Dawn Korinek, respectively, helped to emphasize the play’s exploration of a romance’s violent end and its ultimate renewal. The usual and terrific technical direction of Mark Murray brought the play to light.
