Suspected Fake Debit, Credit Cards Leads to Arrest

Brooklyn, NY man charged after incident at Staples store.

A pocketful of gift and debit cards weren't enough for a Brooklyn, NY man to complete the  purchase he wanted to make at the Staples store in Riverside.

Asumana J. Bility, 24, who gave an address of 1065 Jefferson Ave., Brooklyn, was arrested on 16 counts each of sixth-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card and criminal attempt, according to Greenwich Police.

Bility is accused of trying to make a purchase of unspecified merchandise with gift and debit cards that were found to be fraudulent around 4:30 p.m., Feb. 14. Police said that he had 16 fake cards.

He was released after posting $500 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A maintenance man trying to shoo away a group of skateboarders using a parking lot and garage as their skate park, ended up being charged with disorderly conduct.

Roberto T. Barbosa, 23, of Boca Raton, FL and his father Paulo work as maintenance men for the Porricelli Plaza at 122 Post Rd. in Cos Cob, confronted several skateboarding youths about 4:30 p.m., Feb. 14. According to a Greenwich Police report, Roberto became surrounded by the youths as he told them skateboarding was not allowed. He is accused of grabbing one youth from behind in a bear hug who he thought was aggressive. The youths told police Roberto "choked" the youth who had "slight redness to his neck," according to the report.

Barbosa was issued a summons for disorderly conduct. He was released on a promise to appear Feb. 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A White Plains, NY man surrendered to Greenwich Police who obtained an arrest warrant charging him with second-degree harassment.

Peter Moore, 47, who gave an address of 10 Oakwood Ave., surrendered shortly before 9 p.m., Feb. 14. He was released on a promise to appear Feb. 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Details on the harassment incident were not included in the police report.

A Bridgeport woman surrendered to Greenwich Police on Feb. 13 after learning they had obtained an arrest warrant charging her with second-degree failure to appear in court.

Johanna A. Hermansen, 50, who gave an address of 410 Poplar St., is accused of failing to appear in court on a breach of peace charge stemming from a June 17, 2011 incident. She was held in lieu of $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police are investigating the theft of an unspecified amount of jewelry reported stolen from a Field Point Road residence.

The theft from the home in the 400 block of Field Point Road was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. Feb. 10. Further details were unavailable.

The concession stand at Byram Park was burglarized. According to Greenwich Police, the burglary was reported shortly before 2 p.m., Feb. 10. Details on how thieves gained entry and what was taken were not available.

Police are investigating the theft of a purse from the Ginger Man restaurant at 64 Greenwich Ave. The theft was reported at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 11. Further details were unavailable.
