'The Argument Must Have Been Over a Cupcake'

The best of today's comments from Patch account-holders in your town and neighboring communities.

DARIEN: "The argument must have been over a cupcake. Crumbs Cupcakes are 'to die for.'" This is one reader's response to news that a Stamford man was arrested for after he called Greenwich Police to report he had killed his girlfriend in front of Crumbs Bakery.

NEW CANAAN: "As Maurice Chevalier sang 'I'll build a stairway to paradise, and have someone else pay the way.'" This is one reader's response to news that Connecticut took the top spot on

NORWALK: "I attended the meeting yesterday to see if the blighted and unsafe condition of the Riverview building (collapsing entryways, loose railings, boarded-up facade, etc) where the SSA is leaving from, and which the IRS has already abandoned, was a factor for these agencies' departures. It wasn't mentioned by officials, but it was by the lawyer and former mayor Frank Zullo, who represents the owner of the Riverview. He said he'd worked with the owner over the last 2 years for better management, and to try to fix the building up, and that they had promised to do that. Well, that was obviously too little too late, and if the city had a blight ordinance, which we do not (the very last city in CT to have one, inexplicably), daily steep fines could have been imposed to force improvements and protect public safety, and helped keep these agencies downtown, near transit, where they belong. When questioned after the mtg., the GSA director admitted that a building's condition and environment does factor in to their decisions, and that the SSA is moving to a brand new building in Bridgeport, and he confirmed that the U.S. Passport Office in SoNo, at 50 Wash., (500 daily vis.) is fleeing Norwalk for Stamford soon. Businesses and agencies are fleeing Norwalk in record numbers. There is a strong connection between blight, crime, and economic activity, and I wish our city leaders would finally discover that well-known fact, which is why Norwalk struggles while cities all around us thrive." This is one reader's response to ."
