Old Greenwich Association Now On Greenwich Patch

Well, thank you to the wonderful people at Greenwich Patch for being either wise or foolish enough to let me bring you a blog on not just what is going on in Old Greenwich, but also featuring my personal opinions on issues important to the Village as well. For those seeking an introduction, my name is David Rafferty and I am the president of the Old Greenwich Association. Over the years I may have coached your kids in baseball or soccer and we may have met through the PTA boards at ISD or EMS. I’m as proud of my community as anyone, but I also have concerns, so from time to time I’ll be posting here to help keep us all well informed.

That said, the Old Greenwich Association is holding it’s Annual Meeting this coming Thursday, Jan. 26, starting at 7p.m. at the Sound Beach Fire Station. All are welcome to come for a presentation from the fire department on what kind of things you can do to remain safe and sound in your own home during a storm or other emergency. There will also be a discussion featuring the newly formed Village Improvement Committee and where they are heading. Sorry, you’ll have to come out this Thursday evening to learn more, as I’m not giving everything away here. Bring your questions, bring your friends.

So who am I, and what might you be hearing about in this blog? Some things in town that aggravate me: crummy fields for our kids; a Civic Center that could be so much better; letting Binney Pond get disgusting; knucklehead drivers; hello? Shop Local, people! Some things that make me happy: Daffodil Hill; Old Greenwich Farmers Market; a community of volunteers who just make things happen and who never buck for credit; merchants who say they’d never set up shop anywhere else; sunsets at the Point (see above). Things that will be going on in town that you are going to want to know more about: merchants; bridges; trains; dredging and more. Stay tuned.

Dave!!!

Compliments for your splendid contributions to both the TOG and OG communities.

As for "contributions" ,is all proceeding well with the item slated for display in the OG train depot?

Best Regards, Al B.

Al, nothing happening at the moment as we haven't begun to discuss the station itself. Still working on details for the tracks and the bridges.
