Swingaholics; Riverside Pizza Frittas; A Reading Dig

Good morning Greenwich!

It's Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013—a mere 77 days until Halloween...although you've been able to buy Halloween candy in some major retailers for a couple weeks now.

Yowza! Check out this forecast from the National Weather Service. Looks like a specks day coming up!

  • Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 76. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph.
  • Wednesday Night: Clear, with a low around 55. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.
High tides today are at 5:13 a.m. and 5:38 p.m. with the low tide at 11:30 a.m. Sunrise is at 6:02 a.m. with the sunset at 7:54 p.m.

Looking for a little night music? Then head to Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, down on the waterfront on Arch Street. Tonight's weekly concert will be performed by  The Swingaholics at 7:15 p.m. Expect to hear some Count Basie band call-and-response lines, woven between American standards as well as Cajun, Country, Western Swing and Blues. Admission is free.

If you'd rather eat your way through Riverside, then head to the St. Catherine of Siena Carnival where there will be plenty of rides, fun, bingo and of course, pizza fritta and sausage and peppers among the offerings.

And to start the day with the kids, there's Drop-In DIG INTO READING Storytimewith Miss Alina at 10 a.m. Enjoy songs, movements, finger plays and books every week outside on the lawn, weather permitting.
