The Byram Neighborhood Association (BNA)

The Byram Neighborhood Association (BNA) is a group of local residents and business people “Concerned with preserving and enhancing the quality of life in Byram for present and future generations. Our neighborhood association is determined to procure a safer community environment. It seeks the initiative in addressing community concerns, problems, planning, zoning, development, opportunities and environmental issues that impact the lives of our residents, schools, businesses, organizations and places of worship. The BNA provides a united voice for the Byram community.

Our residents and business owners are secure in knowing that The Byram Neighborhood Association will continue to represent this growing and diverse community. The BNA continues to work diligently toward the enhancement of our town through municipal and state channels. The Byram Neighborhood Association and its members are dedicated and determined to maintain the timeless character of our community and provide the necessary changes for the betterment of Byram.” http://www.byramct.org/association.asp.

Board of Directors are Mike Bocchino; Chairman, Robert McKnight; Vice Chairman Matthew Gillespie, Treasurer; John Bowman Secretary. At their March 18, 2013 meeting held at ST Paul’s Fellowship Hall, 286 Delavan Ave.

Mr. McKnight spoke about the generous donation of $20,000 dollars for the Byram Pool Project, from the Junior League in addition to The Master Plan for a new water accessible park at the end of South Water Street, and he encouraged everyone to write letter to the Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation, 101 Field Point Rd  Greenwich, CT 06830 or email at http://www.greenwichct.org/Government/Departments/Parks_and_Recreation/ in support of water excess with or without a life guard.Mr. John Yankowich, Director of Planning and Development surprised the attendees at the meeting when he announced that the authority is in the preliminary planning stages for building a Senior Citizens Subsidized, low to moderate rental housing for seniors sixty-two and over, in Byram near Western Junior Highway. Did you know at the At the turn of the twentieth century Byram was known by three different names - none of them "Byram". The most common, of course, was East Port Chester because the association with the neighboring New York community was still very strong, in addition to New Lebanon and  Hawthorne".
