Oyster Festival and the 'Cos Cob Power Board'

Those partaking in the this weekend should consider a visit to the nearby SONO Switch Tower Museum to view the "Cos Cob Power Board" which is an "operating" exhibit.

The Cos Cob Power Board was designed to switch and control the 11,000-volt power generated at the Cos Cob Power Station to the electrified tracks of the New Haven RR.

The "Main Attraction" is the 100 years-old lever-operated track switching system  which has been preserved intact in its original design which is a very complex  "interlocking" mechanism system that prevented manipulating the switches to a position that could cause a collision.
