On June 6th, at the Board of Education Building, the Greenwich PTA Council Essence Award Recognition Ceremony was held to honor individuals who demonstrate excellence in volunteerism. The Essence award, in its second year, was created to acknowledge individuals who tirelessly and admirably work to better the Greenwich Public Schools, whether from a position of leadership or as
Ms. Figueroa has been an active member in the PTA at New Lebanon School. Thanks to her tireless efforts the New Lebanon students have experienced enrichment programs such as the circus, African drumming, nature programs, and social events. This development work honors the many New Lebanon students who are not native speakers of English, by offering a key to the new land they are now living in.
Ms. Figueroa’s efforts extend beyond raising funds for the school. She is a community builder, assisting new families acclimating by helping with school registrations, summer school registrations, apartment leases, and reduced lunch
applications. Ms. Figueroa strives to have the community and the school work as partners. She was nominated by Principal Barbara Riccio.
