Greenwich World Hunger Association celebrated the holiday season at the Tomes-Higgins House, Thursday, Nov 29th and highlighted its current worldwide projects. GWHA was founded in 1976. After a series of meetings on global poverty, a small group of people got together to discuss ways they might be part of the solution to hunger. In its early years GWHA sponsored programs and lectures, encouraged annual days of fast, and organized hunger walks in which several hundred Greenwich residents participated to raise awareness and funds. In recent years the focus of GHWA has been on helping people increase their food supplies and income through self-sustaining projects. These projects are managed by trusted individuals or small, local organizations. To learn about current projects and to make a donation, visit the website http://greenwichworldhunger.org/
