The is hosting its annual children’s safety and preparedness program, Safety Town. Children attending Kindergarten in the upcoming school year are invited to attend Safety Town for one week, either June 4–8 or June 11–15, to learn about safety topics such as fire prevention, crossing the street safely, “stranger danger” and much more.
During the one-week program, children also will receive presentations from community leaders, including the, and (G.E.M.S.), who will offer special insights into safety education.
“We look forward to teaching our youngsters about safety inside and outside of the home environment. It is important to teach them about these topics at a young age because disasters and safety concerns can happen at any time and they need to be prepared,” said Carissa Duro, Youth Services Associate with the Metro New York North chapter.
Safety Town will educate approximately 400 children from the Greenwich, Conn., Stamford, Conn., and Rye, N.Y. areas. Safety Town will be hosted at the in Byram, Conn. (a neighborhood section of Greenwich, Conn. bordering Westchester County, N.Y.).
