Thank You to the Community For Your Support at the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot

To the Editor:

Despite the cold blustery weather on November 24th, over 650 enthusiastic runners and walkers worked off their Thanksgiving calories at our Greenwich Alliance for Education Turkey Trot 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk.  Racers were kept safe along the Bruce Park course thanks to the much appreciated efforts of the Greenwich Police Department.  Thanks to donations from our sponsors, post-race music and snacks were enjoyed by all at the Greenwich Teen Center.  New this year was the friendly school competition initiated to encourage participation from Greenwich Public School students.  We congratulate all student runners and give special recognition to Julian Curtiss Elementary for having the greatest proportion of participants.  We are thankful to Lightfoot Running Club for providing computerized timing and to Threads and Treads for their race day support.

Our sincere thanks go to all of our sponsors: Tony DeVita/Luxury Mortgage, Equinox, Icy and Scott Frantz, Morgan Stanley - The Markey Group, Stamford, Serendipity, Shepard Insurance Group, Law Office of Erin Spiess Chang LLC,  Chase,  Cushman & Wakefield, CRAVE, Cynthia DeRiemer - Coldwell Banker,  Eleven14 Kitchen, Fresh Green Light,  Garden Catering, The Gibbons Family,  Greenwich Teen Center,  Ivey Barnum & O'Mara LLC, Kings Food Markets,  Lightfoot Running Club,  MBI, Inc., The Reform School Pilates Exercise Studio,  David S. Roth - RBC Wealth Management,  Pepsi,  Pizza Post,  Splurge, Threads & Treads,  Upper Crust Bagel Company,  Greenwich Track Club, Orthopaedic and Neurosurgery Specialists, PC.

None of this would have been possible without the volunteer effort of Greenwich resident and runner Emmy Stocker, who co-directed the race with Christine Kim, past Chair of the Greenwich Alliance.

Our biggest thanks goes to all of you in the community who came out to race, walk, cheer, donate, or volunteer. Look for yourself and your neighbors in the photos on the Greenwich Alliance for Education Facebook page and website.  5K race results are posted on our website, www.greenwichalliance.org. Congratulations to all who participated.

If you couldn’t join the fun this year, we look forward to seeing you next year!

Julie Faryniarz

Executive Director, Greenwich Alliance for Education

Seems to me you are missing the most obvious which is shown in the photo used at the top ofRead More Greenwich Patch pages - Grass Island Marina/Park is directly across the waterway. You won't be able to see much of the stage front but you can certainly enjoy the tunes.
