The Greenwich United Way United Sole Sisters “went nuts” November 9th at “Go Nuts”, the year’s first fundraising event. Held at Winston Flowers on Greenwich Avenue, the reception and cocktail party was co-chaired by Robbie Kestnbaum and Allison Wolowitz, both long-standing Sole Sisters. It officially launched the group’s 9th season of educating members about community needs and working to raise funds to support them. The dynamic group of “Women Stepping Up to Help Others Step Forward” is poised to top $1,000,000 this year in total dollars raised. In 2012-2013 they will focus on the numerous local programs and services addressing critical education needs through the Greenwich United Way, ranging from the growing demand for pre-school tuition assistance, literacy and vocational training, unique education programs for those with developmental disabilities and mental health issues, and the United Way’s own elementary school Reading Champions tutoring program. The anual Sole Sisters Luncheon and Fashion Accessories Boutique is set for April 25, 2013. For more information, go to www.unitedsolesisters.org.
