Winter Solstice Labyrinth Walk

The Round Hill Community Church is sponsoring a Winter Solstice Labyrinth Walking Meditation in the Community House at 395 Round Hill Road on Thursday, December 20th from 7pm to 8:30pm.   Please plan to arrive as close to 7pm as possible so as not to disturb the introduction and meditation.  The meditation will begin with a short introduction about walking a Labyrinth as a meditative tool and the significance of the Winter Solstice.  There will be chairs provided, but you are welcome to bring blankets or yoga mats if you choose.

There will be Tibetan and Crystal Singing Bowls accompanying the meditative walk and the glow of a warm fire in the fireplace.  Once everyone has had an opportunity to walk the Labyrinth refreshments will be shared.  Plan to meet and mingle.  It is free and open to all.

Labyrinths unlike mazes have no dead ends or wrong turns.  One lovely metaphor for walking a Labyrinth is that like one’s own spiritual journey if you stay on the path to Spirit or God you will reach the center or place of stillness.  Labyrinths have been used in this way for thousands of years in all cultures.

The Winter Solstice is actually December 21 each year, the day after this event.  This will be the shortest day and longest night of the year.  The word solstice in Latin means ‘the sun stands still’ and in fact for a short time on this day the sun in the sky looks to do just that.  In ancient times people celebrated the Winter Solstice as a time in which the days would begin to grow longer, hence ‘the return of the sun’.

We invite you to join us to learn more and take some time to be meditative and peaceful during this busy and hectic time of year and welcome the return of the light within.

Seems to me you are missing the most obvious which is shown in the photo used at the top ofRead More Greenwich Patch pages - Grass Island Marina/Park is directly across the waterway. You won't be able to see much of the stage front but you can certainly enjoy the tunes.
