Responding to a community need for additional day camp space, the has launched its “Day Camp at Banc” program. The program for 4 to 12 year olds will run for 8 weeks – June 25 through Aug. 17 – at the Byram Archibald Neighbor Center (BANC).
Charlie Leigh, interim CEO of the YMCA, stated, “We are very pleased to be able to respond to an identified community need and provide a structured and safe environment for our town’s youth this summer. Even though we could not host the program onsite due to construction we felt it was important to find a facility to partner with where we could offer a range of activities and BANC was a perfect fit.” Construction recently resumed on the YMCA’s renovations.
The YMCA of Greenwich Day Camp at Banc will be a traditional day camp with arts & crafts, sports, field trips, swim lesson at the YMCA and time at the beach. Each week will have its own theme providing children with fun educational elements about animals, science, history and exploration and more.
The Director of the camp will be Victoria Martin who is currently the After School Program Director and a swim instructor at the YMCA. The Assistant Director will be Jeff Carino who is the Director of Vacation Camps and Youth Sports Manager at the YMCA.
The licensed camp will run from June 25 through Aug. 17 for children ages 4 to 12. The cost per week is $250 and scholarships are available through the YMCA.
Those interested should contact Victoria Martin at 203-869-1630 ext. 210 or vmartin@gwymca.org. Space is limited.
