Bruce Museum Staffer Named Artist of the Year

Greenwich CT, October 2, 2013 – Sean Murtha, exhibition preparator at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, has been honored as Connecticut Audubon Society 2013 “Artist of the Year.” Murtha, who is an award-winning master wildlife painter, was recognized for his expert realism in painting the birds and landscapes of the Long Island Sound.  A dozen of Murtha’s oils and watercolors were on display at the Connecticut Audubon Society's annual bird art show, Birds in their Habitat, which took place in Fairfield in late September 2013, along with artworks by twenty other artists in various media. At the Bruce Museum, Murtha is an integral part of the team that designs and installs exhibitions. Here, he is shown putting his artistic talent to work on a diorama highlighting an oyster reef that will be on view in the exhibition Oysters, Pearls of Long Island Sound opening November 2.
