Friends of Autistic People Continues its Fund-Raising Efforts
Friends of Autistic People, FAP, held its Annual Fundraiser An Evening of Laughter at the beautiful residence overlooking the Long Island Sound of well-known artist Donald Axleroad.
The well attended event featured Greenwich comedian, Jane Condon, who kept the guests roaring with laughter. Keynote address was given by Autism Speaks Executive Vice President Michael Rosen who in his speech, among others, spoke touchingly about his own grown son with profound autism. He emphasized that children with autism grow up to be adults with autism and new projects need to be started to provide services and opportunities for these young adults.
Brita Darany von Regensburg, founder and president of FAP, presented Michael Rosen FAP’s Award of Appreciation for Michael’s, and through him Autism Speak’s, accomplishments for raising funds for research to find the cause and possibly a cure for autism. Brita also spoke emotionally about her own daughter who has profound autism and is nonverbal and due to being older.
