Indoor Adult and Youth Pickleball at Eastern Greenwich Civic Center

The Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that two, new programs will be offered this winter at Eastern Greenwich Civic Center.

Registration is now open for adult and youth pickleball. Pickleball is the latest craze — a cross between tennis, ping pong and badminton. It is a great way to learn the basics of racquet sports, practice your tennis volleys, or just have fun and be active.

The adult pickleball program offers players a selection of up to 3 days per week at a multi-day discounted rate. Seniors will receive an additional discount with their senior card. Three regulation-sized courts will be available for players on Saturdays from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Tuesdays from 8 – 9:30 p.m., and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The season runs from Jan. 4 through March 22.

The youth pickleball program is a clinic for ages 6 through 13 and will provide instruction on racquet skills, footwork, volleying, serving, team work, rules of play, and strategy. The participants will be divided by skill level. The youth program will take place on Saturdays from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m., starting Jan. 4 and ending Feb. 22.

Registration forms are available at the Recreation Office located at Town Hall, at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd., Old Greenwich, and online at www.greenwichct.org: click on Parks and Recreation and then youth programs or adult programs under Recreation.
