Rep. Camillo and BDV Launch "Combat Boots to Business Suits"
HARTFORD — State Representative Fred Camillo (R-151) was at the State Armory in Hartford last Thursday night to launch “Combat Boots to Business Suits,” a program coordinated through the Connecticut Business Development for Veterans Association (BDV). BDV is an organization that raises private donations and awards financial grants to entrepreneurs who have risked it all for their state and country. Camillo will serve as the Executive Director of the BDV Connecticut chapter.
“Those who serve our state and nation deserve the chance to create opportunity for themselves,” said Rep. Camillo. We want to demonstrate to those who defended our freedoms that we are ready to stand with them as they enter a new phase of their lives.”
BDV provides veterans with the basic needs of building a new opportunity—whether that be finding employment or supporting those who want to create their own small business. They do this by supporting businesses that hire unemployed veterans and through their partnership with Glastonbury based SCORE. SCORE is a national non-profit organization that works closely with the Small Business Administration. Their volunteers come from a wide spectrum of industries and offer small business owners free business training, counseling, and workshops.
