Woman’s Club of Greenwich Holds Philanthropy Tea

On March 20, 2014, The Woman’s Club of Greenwich awarded over 11 grants and scholarships to local organizations. Diane Larson, Vice President of Philanthropies for the Woman’s Club of Greenwich, thanked all of the club members “who tirelessly dedicated their time and effort to fundraising - in order to make these awards possible.” She also reminded everyone in attendance that ‘Philanthropy is the main mission of The Woman’s Club of Greenwich.”

The 2014 Philanthropy Award recipients are:

Call-A-Ride, Greenwich Adult Day Care, Greenwich Campership Program, Greenwich Scholarship Association (5), Greenwich Symphony Young People’s Concerts, Greenwich Lions Club and Neighbor to Neighbor.

Nancy York, Philanthropy Co-Chair of The Woman’s Club Gardeners, presented grants to the following organizations: Audubon Summer Campership Program, Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Scholarship Program, Greenwich Youth Conservation Project and Putnam Cottage Herb Garden Maintenance.

Neighbor to Neighbor Board President, Allen Jackson, thanked The Woman’s Club of Greenwich for the donation as he explained to the group of over 75 members and guests in attendance “Neighbor to Neighbor is in dire need of food and clothing donations.” Neighbor to Neighbor provides free weekly food to over 1,100 Greenwich residents in need.

Juliet Schnur, a 2014 Board of Director of The Greenwich Scholarship Association, accepted 5 scholarships for deserving young ladies. She shared that the recipients of these scholarships have met the following criteria “need, service to the greater Greenwich community, an interest in helping to finance their own education as well as high academic achievement evidenced by their GPA.” These 5 scholarships will be distributed at The Greenwich High School Award ceremony in June.

After the awards were distributed, all in attendance enjoyed an array of elegant tea sandwiches and a sweets buffet, prepared by the Woman’s Club Social Committee under the leadership of Pat Giovinco.
