YMCA OF GREENWICH HONORS FRANK CORVINO OF GREENWICH HOSPITAL AT ITS SOLD-OUT ANNUAL GALA

The YMCA of Greenwich recently honored Frank A. Corvino, president and CEO of Greenwich Hospital at its “Set Sail… Destination Havana 1940” gala. The sold-out event was held March 1st at the Delamar Hotel in Greenwich, CT.

More than 300 guests traveled back in time to an era of cool sophistication enjoying light dinner, cocktails and a silent auction as well as dancing and entertainment.  The cuisine had a distinctly Cuban flair and the décor was reminiscent of 1940’s Havana. Proceeds from the event will benefit the YMCA’s scholarship for the daycare, afterschool and summer camp programs as well as ensuring that the Y can continue to provide programs and membership for the entire community.

In accepting the YMCA of Greenwich’s honor, Frank Corvino stated: “I am honored to receive this award from the YMCA of Greenwich.  They are a pillar of our Greenwich Community. We believe strongly in their mission of healthy living for the body and soul.  In fact, with the cost of healthcare going up we would much rather see all of you at the YMCA working out and getting healthy through exercise, then at the hospital.”

Mr. Corvino was presented with a plaque in recognition of his efforts to advance healthy living in the Greenwich community as CEO of Greenwich Hospital and service to the community by James Cabrera, Chairman of the Board of the YMCA.

In presenting the award, Mr. Cabrera stated: “In the 26 years that Frank has been at Greenwich Hospital he has developed a first class medical facility that has earned a national reputation for outstanding patient care.  Nobody embodies the YMCA philosophy of excellence in healthy living better than Frank. We are proud to honor him.”

The YMCA of Greenwich was founded more than 97 years ago in 1916. Today, it is the largest community-based organization in Greenwich with more than 5,000 members dedicated to healthy living, youth development and social responsibility through athletics and life-long learning programs in order to nurture the potential of all in our community.
