YMCA OF GREENWICH LAUNCHES "Y FOR ALL" CHALLENGE

The YMCA of Greenwich has launched a one day “Y for All” Challenge to bring together the Greenwich community through fun athletic challenges and to raise money for the organization.

On Sunday, November 17th from 11am to 1pm individuals and teams can participate in Zumba, Spin, Relays, Laps and Water activities.  The goal is to have fun and raise funds for the YMCA.  To date more than 60 individuals have signed up and committed to raising more than $15,000 from more than 200 donors.  To sign up to participate in the “Y For All” or to support an individual already participating, please visit: http://www.firstgiving.com/ymcagreenwich

For nearly a century, the YMCA of Greenwich has served as a valuable community center in the heart of town and enriches the lives of more than 5,000 people.  The YMCA strives to strengthen the community by enabling people of all ages and abilities to lead healthier, more active and productive lives.

As a charitable organization, the YMCA relies heavily on philanthropy in order to provide its services.  Through generous donations from individuals and organizations, such as The United Way of Greenwich, the YMCA is able to partner with other community organizations (Abilis, Community Centers Inc., Navy Seals Mentoring Program, Pathways, and others) to provide needed programming and financial aid and scholarships for childcare and members.

Ed Philipp, CEO of the YMCA of Greenwich stated: “Last year’s ‘Y for All’ Challenge was a huge success for the community and the YMCA.  This year we are on track to have more individual participants and raise even more support.  Come on down and challenge our board members and staff while you challenge yourself – it is going to be a lot of fun!”

The YMCA of Greenwich was founded more than 97 years ago in 1916.  Today, it is the largest community-based organization in Greenwich with more than 5,000 members dedicated to healthy living, youth development and social responsibility through athletics and life-long learning programs in order to nurture the potential of all in our community.
