Breaking Out the Bermudas and Bathing Suits [UPDATED]

Visitors flock to Greenwich's parks to enjoy the warm respite from the cool spring temperatures.

 

A meteorological tease towards summer brought hundreds of visitors to Greenwich Point, Binney Park and Bruce Park Tuesday afternoon.

With temperatures reaching 82 degrees with a balmy breeze, there were legions of sunbathers from babies in strollers to mothers and nannies, and those sans children, camped out on the sands of Greenwich Point. Many took advantage of the rebuilt sun canopies which were shredded by the winds and waves of Hurricane Sandy last October.

There were plenty of joggers and walkers, people working on their boats at the Old Greenwich Yacht Club and a lone windsurfer taking advantage of the off-shore winds.

The concession stand appeared to be doing a brisk business. And work crews continue their work restoring the 147-acre park on the shores of Old Greenwich.

There were plenty of lunch-time visitors enjoying a culinary break on the shore of Binney Park pond.

And in Bruce Park, there were plenty of tennis players on the courts.
