Cool Pool Fitness for Greenwich Seniors

Greenwich’s seniors know how to keep cool and fit.

Every Tuesday and Thursday morning close to 40 of the town’s senior citizens take to the Byram Park pool for aqua Zumba and aqua aerobics classes, says Suzanne Testani, program director the the Greenwich Senior Center. Testani leads the Thursday classes while Wendy Lee Rosa is the aqua zumba instructor on Tuesdays.

Under an unrelenting sun Thursday with Frank Sinatra singing in the background, an enthusiastic group jogged in the water, stretched and used foam ‘noodles’ for a series of exercises designed to strengthen and loosen their aging muscles, with Testani leading the way.

“This is the second year I’ve been doing this. I love it,” said Marie Romaniello. “I no longer have aches and pains.”

The free classes are offered at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through Aug. 29.
