E. Putnam Ave. in Old Greenwich to be Closed for Tree Removal Wednesday [UPDATE]

The removal of a tree will force the partial road closure.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect correct date of road closure. It is Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Motorists who use East Putnam Avenue in Old Greenwich—at the Stamford border—will need to take a detour Wednesday morning so tree crews can remove a large tree at the corner of East Putnam and Wendle Place.

Greenwich Police Lt. Robert Berry said both westbound traffic lanes on East Putnam will be closed from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, for the tree removal. The closure will be in front of the Hyatt Regency Greenwich.

"From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there should be one westbound lane open," Berry said. The closure should not impact eastbound traffic.

The best detour for westbound motorists is to take Laddins Rock Road to Sound Beach Avenue to get back onto East Putnam Avenue.
