Clear out the garage and check the bank account if you love tag sales or have a family member who does, because for Fairfield County, gigantic ones are coming this weekend.
Wilton: Minks to Sinks
In Wilton, the twice-annual, massive Minks-to-Sinks sale starts Saturday at 9 a.m. and continues to 5 p.m. Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. is half-price Bargain Day. On Monday, the sale continues from 9 a.m. to noon, with items at half price.
The sale benefits the Family & Children's Agency in Norwalk.
Location: Under the tents at Danbury Road & School Road in Wilton, 1 mile north of Wilton Center (Town Tennis Courts)
The big tag sale was first started in 1931, and by 1952 it got its name, according to the website, "when a volunteer at a pre-rummage sale meeting brought along a mink coat to donate to the sale. Someone else had donated a sink, and another volunteer suggested that they name the sale, Minks to Sinks. The name stuck [...]"
Greenwich: Knights of Columbus Flea Market
The Greenwich Knights of Columbus will host their annual spring flea market Sunday May 4 that typically draws dozens of folks selling everything from antique and collectible furniture, china, glass, tools and toys to the typical flea market fair of jewelry, clothing and beauty products. The market is at the Island Beach Parking Lot on Arch Street, just off the I-95 Exit 3. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. And the Knights serve up great burgers and hot dogs at their food tent too!
Darien: Annual Boy Scout Tag Sale
In Darien, the gargantuan annual Boy Scout Tag Sale at the Andrew Shaw Memorial Scout Cabin at 140 West Ave. is a decades-old town institution. People will line up well before the 8:30 a.m. Sunday opening to get at the books and bicycles, boats and bedstands. The tag sale extends to 4 p.m.
Also in Darien: Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk Tag Sale
"The JLSN's spring tag sale will feature clothing, shoes, accessories, books, toys, sporting goods, small electronics, household goods, and so much more! Early bird entry for $10 from 9 a.m.. Free entry from 10 a.m.," according to the event listing on Darien Patch.
Norwalk
In Norwalk, the Parkway Assembly of God has a tag sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The church is located at 260 New Canaan Ave., near Exit 38 on the Merritt Parkway.
According to an announcement of the event posted on Norwalk Patch: "Come and shop! And see the many, many vendors and families selling their items!
The parking lot will be packed! Come to our tag sale and see what its' all about, year after year it gets bigger and better!!!"
Rowayton section of Norwalk
"The Rowayton Gardeners' Spring Plant and Tag Sale will be held this Saturday, May 3rd (rain or shine), from 9am-12pm at The Potting Shed, located near the Rowayton Community Center, 33 Highland Avenue, Rowayton. Expect to see a huge selection of perennials, annuals as well as garden activities for children and fresh baked goods! Admission is free.
