No Break in the Hot Weather Until the Weekend

Residents seeking cool respite in Greenwich cooling centers.

The hazy, hot and humid weather inferno continues today and according to the National Weather Service, the area won't feel any relief until the weekend.

Until that 'cooler' weather arrives, the town of Greenwich continues to offer cooling stations for residents, including the Greenwich Senior Center, 299 Greenwich Ave., which is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The center's program director Suzanne Testani said there has been influx of visitors who are using the facilities. "I'm seeing more people we've never seen before. Our tai chi and yoga classes were full. I think people wanted to keep cool and get in their exercise," Testani said.

The center also offers water exercise classes at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Byram Park pool.
