Two Traffic Alerts in Greenwich

Greenwich Police say motorists should avoid two areas in town because of traffic congestion.

On Thursday afternoon, the Greenwich Academy graduation is scheduled for at 3 p.m. Traffic is expected to be heavy in the area of the school, at 200 North Maple Ave., between 2 and 6:30 p.m. The Greenwich Police Department is advising drivers to avoid the area if possible.

Police officers will be in the area managing traffic and assisting with parking. "We are asking the public for their patience as we endeavor to accommodate the needs of students, their families, neighbors, and the public," police said in a statement.

In the Old Greenwich area, motorists are asked to avoid Sound Beach Avenue, in the area of Forest and Webb avenues as a Department of Public Works project. There will be alternating lanes of traffic available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays for the next several weeks, according to police.
