Art to the Avenue - Opening Night Festivities

Large scale metal sculptures by Charlie Hewitt will set the stage along Greenwich Avenue for this year’s Art to the Avenue, one of the largest and most exciting ever mounted.  Formally opening on Thursday, May 3, from 5:30 to 8pm, the evening launches a truly spectacular show.  Musicians and street performers fill the streets along the Avenue entertaining strollers.  Most stores host artist receptions for the hundreds of visitors who attend to preview the work of over 130 artists, and to visit the participating businesses.

Remember that the art selected by the retailers remains in place in stores and shop windows throughout the month of May, so there is ample time for viewers to experience the “gallery” that downtown Greenwich becomes.  In addition, all the art on display is for sale, and a 30% tax deduction for the purchaser benefits the GAC.  A complete Map/Guide is published, listing all participants, so that individual shops, artists and installations are easy to locate.  Chairing this massive event this year is Board member Laura Cunningham, along with scores of additional volunteers.  For more information about retailer and Sponsorship opportunities, please call 203.862.6750.
