The announces that the the Fairfield Counts Big Band will perform on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 5pm – 6:30pm at the .
The Fairfield Counts consists of eighteen musicians and a featured female vocalist. This talented group is considered the premier big band in Connecticut and has appeared throughout Fairfield County and the tri-state area since its inception in 1976, bringing back the nostalgic sounds of the Big Band era.
The band's repertoire includes the original arrangements of big band classics from Fletcher Henderson in the '30s to Woody Herman in the '80s, in addition to big band versions of contemporary tunes. The sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Hoagy Carmichael and George and Ira Gershwin will be featured.
Bring the family, a picnic dinner, relax, and listen to some wonderful music at the Civic Center.
