As the inaugural performer of the Ashforth Children’s Concert Series, cellist Eddie Arron holds a special place in the hearts of the Greenwich Library community. We are thrilled to welcome him back for his third visit, once again with his wife, the pianist Jeewon Park. On January 22 at 2 p.m. in the Cole auditorium, they will perform a child-friendly array of classical duets for cello and piano, discuss their instruments, and take questions from the audience.
Arron began his studies on the cello at age seven in Cincinnati and, at age ten, moved to New York, where he continued his studies, eventually graduating from the Juilliard School. Arron made his New York recital debut in 2000 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Earlier that year, he performed Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos with Yo-Yo Ma and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s at the Opening Night Gala of the Caramoor International Festival. When not appearing at major venues around the world, Arron is the artistic director of the Metropolitan Museum Artists in Concert chamber music series, as well as on the faculty of New York University.
Praised for her “deeply reflective” playing (Indianapolis Star), Korean-born pianist Jeewon Park came to the U.S. in 2002, after having won all of the major competitions in Korea. She has performed in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, 92nd Street Y, and Philadelphia Museum of Art. Park is a graduate of The Juilliard School and Yale University, where she was awarded the Dean Horatio Parker Prize.

The Ashforth Concert Series is designed to expose children to classical music performance. The free concert is appropriate for elementary age children and is open to the public through the support of Georgie and Henry A. Ashforth.
