Things you should know:

It's Art to The Avenue

Tonight marks the kickoff of the 's 15th annual Art to the Avenue—the celebration of area artists in partnership with Greenwich businesses.

Regardless of the weather, you can be guaranteed it'll be a sunny, colorful respite as Greenwich Avenue and all of the side streets between East and West Putnam Avenue, south to Railroad Avenue, even along Mason Street.

It's doesn't matter the medium, you'll find it—kinetic sculptures, photography, oils, pastels, traditional sculptures, fabric art and watercolors.

What makes Art to the Avenue so special is that on opening night, many of the business venues are hosting receptions with the artists giving art aficionados the opportunity to meet the creators of the fabulous artwork between 5:30 and 8 p.m. today.

You'll need every minute of opening night as there are 150 artists whose works were selected for display by 120 businesses in the downtown district. On top of that there are several performing artists and groups who will be performing throughout downtown including perennial favorite, the award-winning Jazz Band.

And if you don't have a chance to catch the illustrative celebration tonight, not to worry. All of the artwork—that's for sale with a portion of the purchase price benefiting the Greenwich Arts Council—will be on view through May 28. (Hours of viewing depend upon the store or business hosting the artist.)

Chairing this year's massive event is GAC board member Laura Cunningham, along with scores of additional volunteers
