New York Times Review of Stamford's Cotto: Thumbs up

The New York Times' Patricia Brooks gave Cotto's Wine Bar and Pizzeria a "Very Good" rating in the newspaper's region section, published Friday online.

The Italian restaurant at 51 Bank St. has "had a good bit of success" at creating "the ambience of a Roman trattoria in downtown Stamford," Brooks wrote in her review.

"Adding to the appeal of the 70-seat restaurant, which opened in December 2012, are its moderate prices, with many starters $12 or under, and many entrees under $20," she wrote. "Takeout is an option."

Brooks describes numerous dishes in her review (read the full review for information about them) and says that while there are a number of "intriguing" Italian dishes, prices are also moderate.

Back in March 2013, Stamford Patch published a review by Rosemarie Anner, who wrote: "Cotto is billed as a wine bar and pizzeria but it is more than that. It’s a polished restaurant with a talented cook in the kitchen who crafts food full of flavor and knows when and how to tweak classics."

The Stamford Advocate also recently published a review of the restauant.
