Cum Laude Society Inductees at CSH; GHS grad earns athletic achievement recognition.

Convent of the Sacred Heart names Cum Laude Society inductees

Fourteen students in the Upper School at Convent of the Sacred Heart were inducted into the School’s chapter of the Cum Laude Society at a ceremony on April 26 in the Lennie and John de Csepel Theater.

Head of School Pamela Juan Hayes ’64 and Upper School Head Jayne Collins presented the students with their certificates and pins from the national Cum Laude Honor Society.

The assembly of students and parents heard from Christina Ciardullo, an architect who is a 2002 CSH graduate. She returned to speak about finding passion in intellectual pursuits. She is a designer with Ennead Architects LLP and an adjunct associate research scholar at Columbia University.

  • Nicole Narea of Greenwich.

The ceremony also acknowledged seniors who were inducted last year. They are Erin Aoyama, Kerri Brown, Lacey Henry, Grace Hirshorn, Aubrey Kalashian, Kate Mahoney, Liz Mahoney and Kathleen Spillane.

Cum Laude is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages superior academic achievement in the nation’s secondary schools.  In addition to their academic standing, these girls have excelled in many other areas of school life, including leadership, athletics, broadcast journalism, community service, and the arts.

 

GHS grad Dan Schreff Named to Volleyball All-Academic Team

Dan Schreff, a Greenwich High School graduate in  2008,  co-captain and starting libero (defensive specialist) of Harvard's Division 1 Men's Volleyball Team, was named to the NCAA's 2011 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) All-Academic Team. 

Schreff was ranked in the top 10 among EIVA athletes tallying 1.8 digs per set, totaling a career best 128 digs for the season.  He was ranked in the top 25 among NCAA Division 1 athletes nationwide in digs per set. Schreff, a third-year varsity athlete, carries a 3.7 cumulative GPA and is a psychology and neuroscience concentrator.
