MISA Will Never Be Built

How many more millions must we spend designing a building that will never be built?

To The Board of Estimate and Taxation:

For 6 years The Board of Education has been telling you things that have turned out to be untrue. We have already spent more than MISA was supposed to cost, and we are no closer to building MISA today than we were 6 years ago.

Where will rainwater falling into the toxic pit go? How will construction equipment get to the "MISA Footprint"? Where will excavated toxic material sit after being dug out of the hole?

All of these things are supposed to be in the MISA site plan before you, but they're not there, and the required permits have neither been sought nor issued.

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) MISA Footprint Approval, accepted by The Town on December 10, 2012, places impossible restrictions on the cleanup of PCBs at GHS. It requires the rest of the site to be cleaned up before MISA can be started. We already know that could take more than 10 years.
