There will be sunshine today which will be dimmed by high clouds on a few occasions... The satellite imagery from very early this morning is showing some cirrus clouds sliding across the area, while a cold front located in New England continues to press southward... This front is expected to push as far south as the mid Atlantic region later on today before it begins to lift back to the north tonight -- only at that juncture, it'll become a warm front as it reverses its course...
So, with a light wind out of the north and northeast today and these clouds moving through, most temperatures will be in the 40s across the Tri-State Area this afternoon... Some of the typically colder northern and western suburbs are starting off in the mid and upper 20s, so these locations may have a difficult time climbing any higher than 40 or 42 -- conversely, it'll be in the mid 40s in the City and most coastal communities... With the surface flow tonight primarily out of the east and southeast, some Atlantic moisture is going to be pulled into the region... And, that aforementioned warm front is probably going to produce a bit of light, spotty precipitation as it presses northward... Therefore, with temperatures mostly in the 30s during the overnight hours, but also well above the freezing mark nearly everywhere, we should be allowing for a touch of rain, some drizzle and even a few wet snowflakes... Because any precipitation associated with some milder air aloft moving into the Northeast late tonight and tomorrow will be very light, and the temperatures in a very "marginal" category to bring some wet snowflakes, we feel that most of the these will be confined to areas well north and west of the City, where it'll be in the lower or middle 30s late tonight and tomorrow morning... Fog is also something we'll need to look out for late tonight... Also, it appears at this time that the wet snowflakes will bring NO ACCUMULATION...
Tomorrow, clouds will probably linger all day long, or these will very begrudgingly yield to some brightening in spots during the afternoon, because of the persistence of a light northeasterly or easterly wind... So, as we mentioned yesterday, we don't think that the temperature will manage to climb out of the 40s...
Some fog is expected to form late tomorrow night, which will last into early Sunday... But, with winds shifting around to the south and southwest on Sunday afternoon, there should be some sunshine, and it will become warmer.... Most temperatures will be in the mid and upper 50s on Sunday, and both Monday and Tuesday should be even warmer... High temperatures early next week will be mostly in the lower and middle 60s before a cold front arrives late on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning... We should at least allow for a shower during both of these time periods, before some cooling takes place during the middle of next week...
