Big Warm-Up on the Way, Bigger Cold Shot Coming Too!

Warming!

Good Morning,

Find out what's happening in Greenwichwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

The sloppy mess / wintry precipitation that occurred yesterday is now behind us... And, as we've been talking about now for the past few days, there's going to be a very impressive warm-up that will be occurring here -- albeit very short-lived... Early this morning, we're noticing that fog is causing the visibility to drop below two miles in a few spots -- and we must cover for some fog patches that can reduce the visibility even more (probably to under a mile), especially in areas outside of the larger cities and towns... There can be a bit of drizzle too, but this isn't going to be all that widespread, and we should probably just mention it... Afternoon temperatures are going to rise into the mid and upper 40s... In fact, many of them overnight have risen by a few degrees, as we anticipated yesterday...

There will be plenty of clouds today, although I wouldn't entirely rule out the possibility of a few breaks in them this afternoon... With considerable cloudiness tonight, we should allow for both a shower and some fog... Most temperatures will be no lower than the 40s, and some of these (just like early today) will be on the rise prior to daybreak... 60 in the City... Some western suburbs will also be at or slightly above 60, but some of the southfacing shores will have a difficult time getting out of the lower 50s... In a "spring-like" setup, those winds off of the ocean and Long Island Sound will have an impact on the temperature in coastal Connecticut and on Long Island...The warmest day of the entire week will be tomorrow, and the temperatures should make a run at 60 in the City... Connecticut and on Long Island...

The next cold front will be pretty dynamic, and it will be tapping into some rich moisture tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night as it moves across the I-95 corridor... There is going to be a few periods of rain and a heavier thunderstorm or two tomorrow afternoon and during at least the first half of tomorrow night, any of which could bring a hard downpour... Rainfall amounts for tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night are projected to be in the 1 to 2" range, with the highest amounts most likely occurring in areas north and west of the City... shower early in the morning... Temperatures mostly in the mid or even the upper 40s at daybreak should start to fall, and most will be in the 30s by day's end... Friday, with some flurries, it will be blustery and even colder... It looks cold heading into the weekend - but it doesn't look like we'll have a prolonged period when daytime temperatures will fail to get out of the 20s, like we did last week... Have a good day!!!

Some colder air will then come charging eastward on Thursday, when there still could be a leftover shower early in the morning...
