Sunday: Brisk & Cold with Sunshine  High: 43  Feels Like 30s

Good Morning,

Today is shaping up to be a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday across the Eastern Region, with a good deal of sunshine and temperatures mostly in the mid and upper 50s this afternoon... That being said, under a clear sky early this morning and with very little wind, temperatures as of this writing do vary quite a bit... Some of those typically colder outlying areas are starting off in the mid and upper 20s, but some of the bigger cities are much closer to 40 degrees...

Winds today will be out of the north and northeast, and very light... Therefore, for those who will be doing last minute traveling or attending the parade, the weather will be very cooperative... The sky tonight will be mostly clear, and temperatures will wind up in the upper 20s in portions of the Northeast's interior, but the 30s in most of the suburbs of the larger cities and the lower 40s in some of those cities...

Tomorrow will be quite mild for this time of year, with afternoon temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s (the 60s will be most likely in areas near the Mason-Dixon Line, as well as in South Jersey and across southeastern Pennsylvania)... There will, however, be a cold front that we'll be watching closely late tomorrow, tomorrow night and on Saturday... One of the changes that was made to the forecast yesterday was to remove precipitation from our forecasts for areas east of the Appalachians tomorrow night and on Saturday... And, with the global models still showing a trend of there being little or no precipitation 'printing out', this idea will be preserved today...

However, it is worth pointing out that with the winds beginning to pick up late tomorrow night and remaining gusty on Saturday, whatever the temperature is during the morning (in most cases, in either the middle or upper 40s), it should start to slowly fall during the midday and afternoon hours... By nightfall, some places will be in the upper 30s, and the wind will make it "feel like" it’s in the 20s... As for precipitation, even though it doesn't seem likely along and near the I-95 corridor, there should be a few sprinkles and flurries (even a brief burst of snow) in the Poconos and the Catskills on Saturday...

Sunday should be the 'coldest day' of the entire forecast period, with most temperatures hard-pressed to get out of the lower or middle 40s, even though there should be some sunshine...

In the longer range, we still have some challenges/items to sort out when it comes to the Tuesday and Wednesday time periods... The recent 00z European global forecast model, for example, is showing a relatively 'flat-looking' wave that will be cruising through the Carolinas and the Southeast... That scenario would certainly limit the chances for getting widespread precipitation north of the Mason-Dixon Line...

Conversely, the American version of the medium-range forecast model does show a slower-moving storm unfolding, which would have additional time to deepen near the mid Atlantic coast Tuesday and Tuesday night before spreading a decent amount of precipitation (mostly, if not all RAIN) up the Eastern Seaboard Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night.

Have a great holiday!!!
