Summer on Saturday! Fall on Sunday!

Summer on Saturday, Fall on Sunday!

Good Morning,

The last "full day" of astronomical summer is upon us... And while there will be clouds as well as some sunshine today, most temperatures this afternoon will be in the lower and mid 70s, which is pretty close to what is considered normal for this time of year...

The clouds which billowed up yesterday actually brought a sprinkle to parts of the Tri-State Area late yesterday afternoon... Hourly reporting sites such as Newark and JFK Airports, White Plains and Caldwell, New Jersey picked up trace amounts of rain (in a shower that lasted less than 20 minutes in most cases)...

There will be a light east to southeasterly wind today, with intervals of clouds and sunshine expected...While a ridge of high pressure will be in temporary control of the weather pattern today and tonight, there's going to be a cool front that will be moving across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley tomorrow afternoon... It'll be reaching the coastal plain tomorrow night, bringing with it a couple of showers, and even a thunderstorm...

The consensus which has been reached in our office and amongst the various forms of numerical guidance implies that a southwesterly wind tomorrow afternoon will allow for most temperatures to approach 80 (it'll even reach the lower-80s on some thermometers), and then a shower or thunderstorm will occur prior to 6 p.m. in some of the northern and western suburbs of the big cities... Tomorrow night, there will be a couple of showers and a thunderstorm occurring in both the larger cities and along the immediate coastline, but there shouldn't be more than 90 minutes worth of rain in any given spot -- and the amounts will average about a tenth of an inch or so...

And, we continue to emphasize that this is NOT GOING TO RESEMBLE the outbreak of showers and torrential thunderstorms that occurred back on Tuesday...

Sunday, as the front moves off shore, there will be some sunshine and it will be cooling down a bit... Most temperatures will be in the low 70s, and there will be a bit of a breeze developing Sunday afternoon...

High pressure early next week will promote plenty of sunshine on Monday and Tuesday, with most temperatures reaching the upper 60s and lower 70s each day... After that, showers and a thunderstorm could return during the middle part of next week...

Have a good weekend !!!
