Good Morning,

Clouds are beginning to spread out across the mid Atlantic states and parts of the Northeast early today... While the sky was still mostly clear across New England as of this writing, there should be a tendency for the clouds elsewhere to continue to lower and thicken early today... Therefore, temperatures today aren't going to be able to return to levels which were attained yesterday...

Most should be in the mid 40s this afternoon, and spotty, light rain should occur this afternoon and this evening... Quantitative amounts should average 0.10 inch to 0.25 inch, with the rain tapering to some drizzle later tonight... Some fog will also form...

Low clouds and fog for a while tomorrow should break for some sunshine... This time period is, as we've been saying for the past couple of days, probably going to be the most difficult one when it comes to forecasting the temperature... Even though most of the numerical guidance is still insisting that most temperatures will be in the mid and upper 50s, the gridded data from both the European model and the N.A.M./W.R.F. implies that it'll be no higher than 52 or 53... So, we will stick with the high of 52 for now, but we must convey the idea that where the mercury winds up will be largely dependent on whether or not the clouds and fog break for sunshine...

For example, we can see how it’s no higher than the mid 40s near most of the south-facing shores, while it could reach the mid or upper 50s in many areas west of the City... The level of confidence is much higher in Sunday's temperature forecast — even though there'll be some morning fog and it will be rather cloudy, the fact that there'll be a southwesterly wind developing (and there won't be much wind of ANY KIND tomorrow) should send most temperatures soaring into the upper 50s and lower 60s...

If there are any record high temperatures challenged in the Eastern Region, these will most likely happen in the Greater D.C. Metropolitan Area, or in Maryland and Virginia... Records for Sunday's date in these aforementioned areas are in the lower and middle 70s, and it appears as if it will be getting THAT WARM south of the Mason-Dixon Line...

The unseasonably mild weather will continue early next week, but it still appears that there will be a series of waves of low pressure developing along a slow-moving cold front, which will be marching out of the Midwest on Sunday night and creeping into the Eastern Region Monday and Tuesday...

East of this front, while it'll be fairly cloudy, and there could be a few episodes of rain Monday, Monday night and o Tuesday, temperatures will still be no lower than 5 degrees above the seasonal averages (mostly in the 50s on Monday, but not nearly as high on Tuesday)...

Our gradual "stepping down" into a colder weather pattern by late next week will feature some decent cold air, which will be poised to 'ooze into' many of the big cities located along the I-95 corridor... Therefore, we should mention that rain could mix with some wet snow on the northern and western fringes of the precipitation, especially late on Tuesday and Tuesday night... Wednesday should be colder, but probably also dry... Then, the outbreak of colder air will really be felt around here between 8 and 10 days from now.

Have a good weekend!!!
