The Storms Are Gone! Clean-up Begins With Sunshine & Breezy Weather!

Good Morning,

Yesterday's wild weather has left behind some damage in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states, and there was also some flooding...

While it doesn't appear that there will be any residual flooding today (any rises on rivers and streams), because there hasn't been a whole lot of rain lately (prior to yesterday, of course), there will be some cleaning up to do after some downed trees and power will still need to be restored to some customers...

The cold front that triggered all of this is going to continue to press out to sea early this morning... And, while there are still some clouds and even a few widely separated showers occurring in its wake, there'll be a northwesterly breeze today, which will be ushering in some drier air and the sun will also be coming out...

Most temperatures should be in the low and mid-70s this afternoon, which will be quite nice when coupled with the lower humidity...

There'll be a high pressure system that will be spreading out across the eastern third of the nation this afternoon and tonight, and that will promote a clear sky and very light winds...

Therefore, we expect temperatures overnight will wind up in the low and mid-40s in some of the typically cooler spots away from the big cities... However, most temperatures should wind up in the 50s in the larger urban centers...

Tomorrow will bring a decent amount of sunshine from start to finish... But, most daytime temperatures will be almost equal to or even slightly lower than today's in some cases — because several places will be getting off to a cooler start, when compared with today...

We anticipate a relatively light wind, which will have an easterly component to it... Friday and Saturday will bring progressively warmer weather to the region, as this ridge of high pressure moves into a position off the mid-Atlantic coast, and the winds shift around to the south and southwest...

Our next cool front, which will be emerging on Friday morning in the Plains and the Upper Midwest, will be approaching the I-95 corridor and coastal plain later on Saturday and Saturday night...

The southwest wind out ahead of it will allow for temperatures to get a 'decent boost' on Saturday afternoon — but then there could be a few showers and even a thunderstorm or two around, especially later in the day Saturday and Saturday night...

We're a bit concerned that shower activity may last into Sunday, if for no other reason — some chillier air aloft associated with an upper-level trough digging into the region may bring with it some instability...

In other words, the "sunny one minute, then cloudy with a shower the next" type of day could be setting itself up on Sunday... Also, temperatures may be hard-pressed to get out of the 60s in most places...
