Showers and Thunderstorms Build Into Thursday, The Holiday Weekend Forecast is Nice!

Good Morning,

Although there was a considerable amount of fog around yesterday morning, it
did manage to dissipate soon enough for the sun to come out for several hours...And, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and lower 80s in the afternoon, itfelt sort of "muggy", because most dewpoint temperatures were in the lower andmiddle 60s... This moist environment should remain with us for the next few days, asa southwesterly wind continues to pump some relatively warm and humid air intothe Eastern Region... So, even though there are some advisories out for dense fogthis morning, primarily along most of the south-facing shorelines, it'll be warm andrather humid again later today with most temperatures reaching the 80s... Thewarmest spots will be located in areas north and west of the City, while most coastalcommunities will fail to get out of the 70s... We must be on the lookout for a couple of showers and a thunderstorm, especiallylater this afternoon and this evening... This activity should manage to die down byearly tonight, and then we should see the whole process unfold again tomorrow...But, tomorrow is also probably going to be the warmest day of the entire week, because the winds both at the surface and aloft will be fairly well-aligned, andtransporting air from the Southeast, or a source region that will be in the upper 80sand lower 90s this afternoon... The "most active day" of the week as far as showersand thunderstorms are concerned, or perhaps the best way to put it is "the daywhen the greatest number of showers and thunderstorms will occur", should beThursday... That is when a cool front will be marching across the Appalachians andtowards the coastal plain during the afternoon and evening... So, even thoughclouds and the multiple showers/t-storms should prevent the temperature fromgetting out of the 70s or the lower 80s in most places, it will still be veryuncomfortable because of the high humidity... Some of Thursday's thunderstormscould also be strong or severe, especially as the front reaches the I-95 corridor laterin the afternoon or early Thursday night...  Friday will be noticeably cooler, and there still may also be a couple of showers around, especially early in the day... Heading into the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, we'renoticing this morning that the global models are "at odds" when it comes to their solutionsfor Friday afternoon, Friday night and Saturday... Essentially, while the European version ofthis model shows a quick drying trend for the big cities located along the East Coast, thedomestic model (especially last evening's run of the operational G.F.S.) are trying to implythat an upper level trough axis will 'lag behind' a bit more slowly... Therefore, this model isprinting out some additional rain on Friday afternoon, Friday night and even Saturday(although by Saturday afternoon, most of the rain shifts to the immediate coast)... So, the long range forecast is something we should watch very closely... Whether the startof the holiday weekend brings some rain or not, it'll be cooler with temperatures probably nohigher than the lower or middle 70s on both Saturday and Sunday... Just how much sunthere is remains to be seen. Have a good day!!!
