Hey Greenwich! Did You Know ... A Winning Mega Millions Ticket Was Sold in Town?

Woo-Hoot—They're in the Money!

According to Connecticut state Lottery officials, the one second-prize ticket to the record Mega Millions lottery jackpot was sold right here in Greenwich.

There was one winning ticket for the $250,000 second prize for the record $640 million jackpot and it was won by Anthony Johnson of Greenwich, according to CT Lottery. Johnson matched the first five numbers drawn—2 - 4 - 23 - 38 - 46—but missed the Mega Ball of 23.

Johnson purchased his “Quick Pick” winning ticket from Putnam Shell,  401 W. Putnam Ave., owned by Carmen and Judy Moretti. “We are so happy that we sold a $250,000 winning Mega Millions ticket,” the Morettis said in a statement released by CT Lottery. “We really hope the winning ticket was purchased by one of our regular customers.” Putnam Shell will receive a $2,500 bonus from the CT Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

It's A Healthy Wednesday

As the department continues its efforts to promote healthier lifestyles, the Division of Environmental Health will offer information about lead paint and renovation, septic systems and ground water protection, food safety flyers and magnets. It's Earth Day Month in Greenwich

For your planning purposes, as part of the town's Earth Day month, on Saturday, April 7 and Saturday, April 14 from 10 am to 2 p.m., there will be the Armstrong Court Community Organic Garden Raised Bed Installation Day. Volunteer foremen or team leaders and team volunteers will install already constructed raised bed boxes at the Armstrong Court Community Organic Garden. Organizers say to bring tools and gloves if you have them, otherwise they will provide what you need, as well as water and snacks.
