A JetBlue airplane that took off from Westchester County Airport Friday morning was forced to make an emergency landing at JFK Airport Friday morning after striking a bird, officials said.
The JetBlue Flight 671 had departed from Westchester County Airport at 9:05 a.m. bound for West Palm Beach, FL, an airport spokesman said, according to the New York Daily News.
The Airbus A320 collided with the bird roughly 25 minutes later, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. The pilots then declared an emergency and safely landed at JFK. No one was injured.
The FAA, which will handle an investigation into the strike, did not identify the species of bird.
