Kaliko To Serve on CT Bioscience Advisory Committee

Greenwich attorney Joe Kaliko has been appointed to the 13-member Bioscience Advisory Committee, a statewide body responsible for making investments to advance the development of the bioscience industry in Connecticut.

"The committee manages where the money is spent to create jobs and help our economy," said Kaliko, whose background includes IT development.

His appointment to the committee, which will be responsible for managing how the state invests about $10 million a year during the next two years to attract new businesses to Connecticut, was made by Republican Senate Minority Leader John McKinney. Kaliko, a Democrat, appointed by Gov. Dannel Malloy earlier this year to the Connecticut Innovations Board of Directors, the state’s quasi-public agency that provides financing and assistance to growing Connecticut businesses.

"My appointment by the Senate Minority Leader is a wonderful example of appointments from both sides of the aisle to allow me to spend my time to help the people of Connecticut," Kaliko said. He also thanked the Greenwich state delegation, "especially Senator Scott Frantz and Representative Fred Camillo, for recommending my appointment to the Bioscience Advisory Committee."

"I like the life sciences and biosciences as areas for investments," Kaliko added. "I hope to help bring higher paying bioscience jobs to Connecticut and help create a stronger economy by serving on a non-partisan board."
