Kumo Officially Opens Its Doors for Sushi Goodness in Stamford

The buffet-style bar & grill opened its doors officially Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A brand new spot to satiate the sushi cravings of Stamford officially opened Tuesday in the East Side section of Stamford.

Kumo Sushi Bar & Grill, located at 850 E. Main St., opened its doors with an official ribbon cutting on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon, and the unseasonably warm weather matched the beautiful environment unveiled.

Owner Irene Zheng said it's taken her just over a year to get the space open in Stamford. Kumo brings Zheng to just shy of a half-dozen restaurants she's opened, she said.

"I've been in the restaurant business my entire life," Zheng said. "All of my family is in the restaurant business. I have five restaurants serving Japanese cuisine, but this is my first in Stamford."

Zheng said the restaurant, which is buffet-style serving sushi and other traditional Japanese fare, has two party rooms capable of accommodating up to 100 guests and a bar up front. Kumo will be open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

General Manager Eddie Chan said it was a goal for the restaurant to eventually keep its bar section open until standard hours for other similar venues.

Stamfordo Mayor Michael Pavia, who called the restaurant "beautiful," and told Zheng he was excited to have Kumo among the ranks of Stamford's great restaurant offerings, was on hand to help cut the ribbon and signed a commemorative plate to mark his visit.

"I live Stamford," Zheng said. "I like the people. They are nice, very good people. It's a new beginning here."

Seems to me you are missing the most obvious which is shown in the photo used at the top ofRead More Greenwich Patch pages - Grass Island Marina/Park is directly across the waterway. You won't be able to see much of the stage front but you can certainly enjoy the tunes.
