Becker Chicaiza, owner of Becker Salon at 268 Mason Street in Greenwich, Conn, was recently invited to Barcelona, along with 70 top international hairdressers, to participate in L’Oréal Professionnel’s World Tour to train with award-winning professionals and learn new creative concepts and trends in color and styling.
The week-long program, Sept. 8 – 15, took place at the L’Oréal Academy in Barcelona and featured prominent educator and 40-year veteran in the industry, Trevor Sorbie, one of the most respected names in hairdressing who is known for creating such trend-setting styles as the Wedge and the Scrunch.
Chicaiza made arrangements for Becker Salon staff member Lucas Magnum to join him on the trip and take part in this hands-on interactive experience that covered new trends in shorter haircuts, innovative two-tone coloring and intricate updos for weddings and high fashion runways. The pair worked with international models and met inspirational professionals who are likely to make a guest appearance at Becker Salon in the near future. Becker Salon was the only salon from Greenwich and one of only several from the New York region to attend.
“It was very inspirational for us to be part of this incredible program,” said Chicaiza. “We like to be in the forefront of the latest in styles and trends and we’re excited to bring new techniques to Greenwich.” Chicaiza and Magnum are conducting training for the Becker Salon staff in their newly learned methods.
Becker Salon, which celebrated its fifth anniversary last year, has cultivated a large following in and around Greenwich. Chicaiza and his staff carefully adhere to their mission, which is to highlight the beauty of everyone who enters the salon with the magic touch of their hands.
